In his spare time, he is an avid triathlon enthusiast, hoping to one day complete an Ironman race. When Dr. Maddux is not working or training for triathlons, he loves spending time enjoying the outdoors, exercising and exploring Civil War battlefields with his wife and three dogs (Savannah, Lucy, and Buford).
Dr. Mike Maddux was born and raised in Pensacola, FL along with his two sisters. Upon graduating from high school Mike decided that veterinary medicine was the career for him so he applied to Auburn University and was accepted. At Auburn he obtained a bachelors degree in Microbiology and later obtained his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. During his time at Auburn Mike became and avid Tigers fan and gained a vast amount of education in both large and small animal care.
Since graduation, Dr. Maddux has gained extensive experience with both large and small animal medicine throughout Georgia, Florida, Texas and Tennessee. Ultimately his heart was in small animal care so he began to dedicate his career to perfecting his small animal surgical and medical care skills. With regards to small animal care Dr. Maddux's special interests are internal medicine, surgical procedures, dentistry, and behavior. Dr. Maddux enjoys getting to know his patients and achieving a comfort level with owners. After working in Texas for a year Dr. Maddux had an opportunity to move to Nashville, TN which he gladly accepted. Once here, Mike fell in love with Tennessee and in doing so decided to fulfill his dream of opening his own practice right here in Murfreesboro.
