Dr. Maddux was born and raised in Pensacola, Florida. He decided on a career in veterinary medicine early in high school after shadowing a vet in his hometown. Dr. Maddux attended Auburn University where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology and later, his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. During his time at Auburn, Dr. Mike became an avid Tigers fan.
Since graduation, Dr. Maddux has gained extensive experience with both large and small animal medicine throughout Georgia, Florida, Texas and Tennessee. Ultimately, his heart was in small animal care, and he gave up large animal work. Now a small animal practitioner, Dr. Maddux's special interests are internal medicine, surgical procedures, and dentistry. Dr. Maddux enjoys getting to know his patients and achieving a comfort level with owners. He is proud of the veterinary hospital he and his wife have built and watched grow.
In his spare time, Dr. Maddux is an avid triathlon enthusiast, having completed an Ironman race. When he is not working or training for triathlons, he loves spending time enjoying the outdoors, exercising and exploring Civil War battlefields with his wife Christen, son Wyatt, and three dogs Savannah, Lucy, and Buford.
